FSAI Report
17 November 2008
Ballygowan fully supports the independent monitoring of all water for consumption and customers can continue to have every confidence in the high quality of our pure, Irish water.
Ballygowan unequivocally confirms that it is not one of the bottled water brands that did not meet required industry standards during FSAI testing last year, and alluded to in the recent FSAI report. Having spoken with the FSAI, we can fully substantiate this fact.
We wish to reassure our customers that Ballygowan meets all Irish and EU quality standards. Ballygowan has lead the way in the industry in terms of standards and the company’s products are licensed by the National Standards Authority IS 432:2005, which is the highest Irish Bottled Water Standard available.
Our best in class standards are achieved and maintained as a result of a series of rigorous testing, including regular internal audits and stringent, independent audits and tests.
The FSAI report groups all bottled waters together, which is unhelpful to the consumer, has the potential to cause confusion and may present a distorted industry picture.
Consumers should have access to the facts about bottled water brands and therefore, we feel it is vital to make the distinction between brands, such as Ballygowan, which meet all quality standards and those waters that did not meet the FSAI standards.
We at Ballygowan hope that this report will not shake consumer confidence in a highly regulated industry.
Ballygowan is drawn from a single source, at Newcastlewest, which is one of the finest natural underground sources in the world.
